What temperature indicates a fever?

tips to power up your home - thermometer

We have to take precautionary measures during the coronavirus outbreak. Temperature screening is for sure one of those basic steps, but do you know exactly what temperature indicates a fever?

Since there are several methods for measuring body temperature, we have various kinds of thermometers with slightly different reference ranges above which indicate a fever.

Oral: above 37.5 degree Celsius
Rectal: above 38 degree Celsius
Underarm: above 37.3 degree Celsius
Eardrum: above 38 degree Celsius

As for the popular infrared forehead thermometer, we suggest you refer to the user manual for its reference range as forehead temperature measurement does not provide a totally reliable reading, plus the fact that it varies across different brands. Don’t forget to disinfect your thermometers and replace the batteries regularly!

How to disinfect your keyboard inside and out?

tips to power up your home - gaming keyboards and mouse

This harmful virus is no joke, that’s why we all resort to staying at home and meeting our buddies on the screen! Even if our gaming keyboards and mice never leave home, we should strive to keep them clean as we are using them day and night!

Tips on keyboard cleaning and disinfection:

  1. Remember to cut off power supply for your keyboard before cleaning or disinfection
  2. If it has been ages since you last cleaned your keyboard, we suggest you to remove all the keycaps for a thorough cleaning
  3. Dust before disinfecting the keyboard and keycaps with rubbing alcohol
  4. Air dry before replacing them onto the keyboard

As for the highly sought-after game Nintendo Switch, it is officially recommended not to use rubbing alcohol that is high in concentration in order to avoid wearing down the surface of the gaming console. Anyway, a good clean can keep your keyboard and its desk buddy disinfected.

Tips on DIY home maintenance

tips to power up your home - tips on diy home maintenance

Increased usage of home appliances may make them more likely to break down as we stay at home longer. However, we tend to fix it on our own as social distancing has made arranging repairs more complicated than usual. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  1. Cut off power supply before maintenance
With a user manual in hand or the convenience of online learning, you might be brave enough to disassemble the electrical appliance, but please remember to cut off the power supply before getting started to be absolutely safe!
  2. Clean before you repair
Your appliance not working properly can be a result of rust, a lack of lubrication, or under the influence of dust or water. Chances are, you can solve it once you have cleaned the appliance!
  3. Replace batteries
Sometimes we are making the simple complicated. When your appliance does not work, you might check the battery and replace it at first!

No matter how it may be done, an excellent flashlight or headlamp always allows you to perform hands-free tasks easily.
